Character History
A successful actress, Victoria Lane came to Santa
Barbara in 1986 as Cruz Castillo's former lover. It was soon revealed that
Tori shared a secret with Cruz concerning Katie Timmons, Keith's sister,
who drowned herself in the ocean because she was jealous of Cruz and
Tori's romance. Now, years later, it also became obvious that Tori still
loved Cruz. That didn't sit too well with his girlfriend, wealthy heiress Eden
Capwell. She tried to get Tori out of Santa
Barbara by bringing Tori's possessive boyfriend, tennis pro Martin Ellis,
to town. The plan failed, and Cruz and Eden briefly broke off their
relationship.
All was under control until Cruz and Tori ended up shipwrecked in a storm. Cruz was delirious and thought the woman with him was Eden, prompting Tori to take advantage of the situation and make love to him. Back in Santa Barbara, a depressed Tori ended up on the roof of the Capwell Hotel and was befriended by Eden's half brother, Mason Capwell. Mason was instantly drawn to Tori because she reminded him of his true love, the recently deceased Mary Duvall. During this time, Tori learned she was pregnant from her liasion with Cruz. She didn't tell Cruz, however. More problems followed when Tori learned her manager had skipped town with all her money. Later on, she passed out from abdominal pains and was found by Mason, who took her to the hospital. There, Tori was forced to admit to Mason that she was carrying Cruz's baby. Soon after, C.C. Capwell caught wind of the pregnancy. Determined to protect Cruz and Eden's relationship, C.C. offered Mason big bucks to marry Tori and claim the child as his own. Mason proposed to Tori and she accepted. They got married. Months later, Cruz was forced to deliver Tori's baby during a bad storm. Behind Tori's back, Mason named the baby Channing Creighton Capwell III (a.k.a. Chip).
When Mason finally returned to town, he settled down with Tori and Chip, though he was actually in love with Julia. Against Mason's wishes, Tori took a part in a move directed by Mel Stock. Mel provided Tori with cocaine, getting her addicted in the process. Although Tori underwent drug rehab at a clinic, she was unable to save her marriage. Mason left her for Julia, and Tori gave Mason his divorce. Much to Tori's devastation, Mel died of a drug overdose after tricking her into bringing a vial of cocaine to his hospital room. Her life continued to be in turmoil as Chip was kidnapped by his babysitter, an unstable woman named Wilma. Chip was eventually rescued. Not long after, the boy became gravely ill and required a bone marrow transplant. Since Tori was not a suitable donor, she had no other choice but to tell Cruz that he was Chip's father. Cruz wanted to be a part of Chip's life, but Tori nixed that idea. On her way to make a film in Hollywood, Tori got into a terrible accident. She was hospitalized, leaving Cruz to take care of Chip. After her operation, Tori became addicted to pain killers. Cruz refused to give up his son, claiming Tori was an unfit mother. Before the custody battle reached court, Tori realized Cruz was right and handed Chip over to him and Eden. Meanwhile, Tori started dating Phillip Hamilton, but they never became more than friends. She also dated Dr. Arthur Donnelly for a while. In early 1989, Tori left Santa Barbara to resume her acting career. She was rarely mentioned again. |
