Shannon Pressman was a fictional character who appeared on Santa Barbara from April to June 1990. She was portrayed by actress Lori Hallier.

Introduction
When Ethan Asher, the District Attorney of Santa Barbara, recuperated at home from his near-fatal car accident, he was surprised when nurse Shannon Pressman arrived at his door. Shannon explained that she had been hired by his old friend, Craig Hunt, to take care of Ethan. Before long, Ethan found himself highly attracted to Shannon, and the feeling was mutual. After a few weeks, they kissed for the first time.

Ethan's deranged wife, Laura Asher, was in a sanitarium at the time and plotted to kill Ethan. She secretly put poison in his tea tin, but Shannon wound up throwing the tea out. Determined to kill Ethan once and for all, Laura sent her crazy roommate, Annie, to throw a radio into Ethan's bath, but Shannon's presence thwarted Annie's attempt at electrocution. Annie then poisoned Ethan's cognac, but Shannon drank it instead and collapsed. Ethan found Shannon and got her to the hospital, where she quickly recovered. Annie was caught rigging a bomb in Ethan's house by Shannon, Craig Hunt and the police. Laura's guilt was also proven.

The Pressman case
Shannon confided in Ethan that she was the daughter of Frank Pressman, a man convicted of killing a little girl named Cassandra Benedict twenty years before. Although the past was painful for Shannon, Ethan told her about his belief that her father was innocent of murder. Shannon reluctantly agreed to look at the court transcript and was mortified when she realized that her mother had lied about her father on the stand, sending him to death row.

Shannon was Ethan's nurse
after his accident.

Now convinced of her father's innocence, Shannon visited him in prison. He was unreceptive to her apologies, however, and left her in tears. Soon after, Shannon was distraught when her request for a stay of execution for her father was denied. Meanwhile, Ethan, Craig Hunt, Derek Griffin and Stephen Slade believed that one of the Capwells was Cassandra Benedict's real killer. They had grown up with Cassie in the orphanage and were determined to avenge her death. Ethan brought Shannon to a Capwell dinner party, which was also attended by the other men, and planted a tape recorder in hopes of snaring a confession. The party became a disaster when Ethan outright accused the Capwells of Cassie's murder. Afterwards, Shannon visited the Capwells to retrieve the tape recorder for Ethan.

Ethan and Shannon made love. She shared a touching reunion with her father when he was finally released from prison. That was the last time we saw Shannon.
