Brief Character History
When Peter Flint first appeared, he was an ambitious teacher and engaged to marry the beautiful heiress Kelly Capwell. Unfortunately for Peter, Kelly's heart belonged to her ex-lover Joe Perkins, who had recently returned to Santa Barbara after a five-year jail term for the murder of her brother Channing Jr. Nevertheless, Peter's connection to Kelly won him the total approval of her father, C.C., as well as a high position in Capwell Enterprises. Kelly's half brother, Mason, resented Peter and they had a long-running conflict. Peter's confidants were his sometime lover Augusta Lockridge and his secretary Veronica.

A short time after his return to town, Joe was able to win back Kelly's heart, much to Peter's dismay. In an attempt to get his rival back in prison, Peter planted cocaine on Joe's motorcycle. Around the same time, Peter turned out to be a former gigolo and found himself blackmailed by Ginger Jones, his former pimp. With Peter as a reluctant go-between, Ginger kidnapped Kelly and demanded ransom money from the Capwells. In the end, Kelly was rescued by Peter. He made himself look like a hero while keeping mum that he let Ginger escape. Then, he decided to kill Joe. He lured Joe to a wildlife preserve, where Kelly found the two men struggling over a gun. Peter was critically wounded. He was rushed to the hospital, where he cleared Joe of Channing's murder and promptly accused Mason of the crime! Panicking, Mason kidnapped Peter to a out-of-the-way private hospital and bribed him to clear his name.

Following his release from the hospital, Peter learned he was suffering from a brain aneurysm and didn't have long to live. In a deranged mental state, he systematically killed each blonde women he saw, thinking they were Kelly. After he murdered them, he left a white carnation by their side, thus becoming known as the Carnation Killer. His victims included Summer Blake and Veronica. Eventually, Peter tried to lure Kelly into his clutches at an abandoned warehouse, but her sister Eden went there in Kelly's place. Peter kidnapped Eden, but she was soon rescued by Cruz Castillo. Later on, Peter kidnapped and raped Kelly while she was on her honeymoon with Joe. She managed to escape from him. Back in Santa Barbara, Peter left a suicide letter which proved he was the Carnation Killer. A mystery person, who would later turn out to be Marcello Armonti, added a confession to Peter's letter which made it look like Peter was also Channing's killer.

The end of this drama found Peter taking Joe hostage at the Perkins house. When Kelly attempted to rescue Joe from Peter's clutches, Peter shot and killed Joe. Then, Cruz rushed into the house with his gun blazing and killed Peter.

A year later, when Kelly was stalked by Dylan Hartley, she was reminded of Peter and haunted by his "ghost."
