Biography
Christopher was born on
October 7, 1953
in New York City
to Broadway
musical
conductor Arthur
Norris and
singer/actress
Grace Olsen. She
made her show
business debut
as the Ivory
Soap Baby and
four years later
made her stage
debut as Gretel
in the first
national company
of The Sound
of Music,
and later as
Marta and then
Brigitta in the
Broadway
production of The
Sound of Music.
She also
appeared on
Broadway in The
Playroom, Roar
Like a Dove and
The Secret
Life of Walter
Mitty.
Christopher
made her feature
film debut in The
Summer of '42 and
co-starred in Airport
1975 and Eat
My Dust. Her
first television
motion picture
starring role
was opposite
Desi Arnaz, Jr.
in Mr. &
Mrs. Bojo Jones,
followed by The
Hatfields &
McCoys, Mayday
at 40,000 Feet and
The Great
American Beauty
Contest and
she also
appeared in
Truman Capote's A
Thanksgiving
Visitor with
Geraldine Page.
She's
best known to
prime time
audiences for
her co-starring
role as Nurse
Gloria Brancusi
on the series Trapper
John, M.D. for
six seasons. In
1984, while she
was on Trapper,
she started the
popular
Christopher
Norris line of
nurses'
uniforms. The
proceeds from
her line
sponsored a
student nurses'
scholarship for
the National
Student Nurses
Association. She
also made guest
starring
appearances on Murder
She Wrote,
Hotel, Love
Boat, Matlock,
Mike Hammer,
Barnaby Jones,
Police Story,
Happy Days and
Diagnosis
Murder among
others. Daytime
audiences will
remember
Christopher for
her portrayal of
teenager Sarah
Capice on Edge
of Night and
her brief stint
on The
Doctors.
In
addition, she
appeared in
stage
productions of Most
Happy Fella,
Show Boat,
Finian's Rainbow,
The Women and
Here's Love at
theaters around
the country, and
The Promise with
Gregory Harrison
in Los Angeles.
Nowadays
Following her
departure from Santa
Barbara, she
joined Guiding
Light as
tough defense
attorney Rebecca
Nash and later Another
World as
Margaret Allen. In the
1990s,
Christopher got
her bachelor's
degree in
psychology. More
recently, she
took a break
from acting and
got a real
estate licence.
During her time
on Santa
Barbara, she
was married to
Los Angeles
businessman
Walter Danley,
but the two have
since divorced.
