Marcy
Walker
joined
the
cast
of
Santa
Barbara
as
Eden
Capwell
during
its
1984
premiere
season.
In
a
short
time,
Eden's
romance
with
Cruz
Castillo
(portrayed

Martinez)
captivated
the
hearts
of
the
viewers.
The

earned
Marcy
three
consecutive
Daytime

Award
nominations
for
Best
Actress.
She
finally
won
the
award
in
1989.
Early
life
Marcy
was
born
in
Paducah,
Ky.
Because
her
father
worked
as
a
field
service
engineer,
the
family
became
accustomed
to
moving
from
place
to
place.
By
the
time
Marcy
graduated
from
Triad
High
School
in
Troy,
Illinois,
she
had
lived
all
over
the
U.S.,
not
to
mention
Switzerland
and
Iran.
After
graduating,
Marcy
decided
to
attend
Southern
Illinois
University.
During
the
enrollment
process,
she
was
sitting
in
the
theater
manager's
office
when
a
call
came
in
from
New
York
casting
director
Jane
Iredale
asking
if
the
university
had
any
likely
candidates
to
star
in
the
PBS
production
of
Life
on
the
Mississippi
with
Robert
Lansing.

Career
The
fire of
Marcy's
success
was
sparked
when she
won the
role of
a
Southern
belle in
Mississippi
over
2000
other
applicants.
She
subsequently
moved to
New York,
where
Jane
Iredale
became
her
manager.
After
completing
the Mississippi
project,
Marcy
was cast
in over
40
commercials,
and at
the same
time
played
lead
roles in
Christian
and
Katherine
and The
Sister's
Room,
both for
the
Cable TV
Network.
In 1981,
she was
offered
the role
of the
malicious
Liza
Colby on
the ABC

drama All
My
Children.
Marcy's
portrayal
of the
character
won her
two Emmy

nominations.
Concurrently,
she
co-starred
with
Frank
Gorshin
in the
feature
film Hot
Resorts.
Pursuing
her
desire
to enact
the role
of a
heroine,
Marcy
joined
the cast
of Santa
Barbara two
months
after
the show
began. A
part was
reserved
for her
during
this
time so
she
could
fulfill
her
contract
with All
My
Children.
"I
took the
biggest
risk you
could
take,"
said
Marcy.
"I
had a
secure
job, a
good
role on
a very
hot
show,
but I
wanted a
change.
If
you're
never
willing
to fail,
you're
never
really
willing
to
succeed."
Recent
work
In
addition
to her
daytime
contributions,
Marcy

in
several
movies-of-the-week,

Guard.
She

Hill on Guiding
Light and
later

as Liza

Children.
