McCLOSKEY
Dr. Zack Kelton,
1988-89; Ethan Asher,1989-90 Leigh J. McCloskey (the J. stands for Joseph) was born on June 21, 1955 in Los Angeles, California. After a year at Cal State in Northridge, he transferred to the Juilliard School in New York to study theater, and upon getting an agent, went right to work. After completing his studies in 1975, he returned to California to appear in the TV miniseries Executive Suite, playing the son of Mitchell Ryan, the same actor who played Tonell on Santa Barbara in 1989. Early in his career, Leigh was most recognized for his lead roles in the teenage TV movies Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway, which co-starred Eve Plumb, and its sequel Alexander: The Other Side of Dawn. These roles were followed by a stint on Dallas as Mitch Cooper. He made his debut on Santa Barbara as Dr. Zack Kelton, who was later revealed as the notorious video-rapist before meeting his well-deserved demise. Obviously pleased with Leigh's work, SB execs offered him a new, unrelated role before Zack was officially given a royal send-off. A month after the character's demise, Leigh returned to the show as district attorney Ethan Asher, sporting an entirely new look (he wore glasses and his hair was restyled and dyed blonde). After this second role ended, Leigh starred on daytime television in General Hospital, The Young and the Restless and One Life to Live. Among his film credits are Inferno, Just One of the Guys and Lucky Stiff. He has made guest appearances on numerous TV shows, including Jake and the Fatman, 3rd Rock from the Sun, JAG, Star Trek Voyager and Deep Space Nine. He also appeared in such TV movies as Troubleshooters: Trapped Beneath the Earth, Accidental Meeting and Terror in the Shadows with Marcy Walker. Leigh has been married to his wife Carla since 1978 and they have two daughters, Caytlyn (b. 1982) and Brighton (b. 1987). In addition to his acting career, Leigh is a talented painter.
