Lisa DiNapoli was a fictional character that appeared on Santa Barbara from February to July 1989. She was portrayed by actress Tawny Kitaen and, during Kitaen's brief absence from the role in March, Tea Leoni.

Introduction
Lisa made her first appearance when her sister, Celeste DiNapoli, arrived at the police station to bail out her father only to learn that Lisa had already taken care of it. Celeste was surprised to see Lisa and their younger sister, Emily, and promptly invited them to stay with her. Although Lisa resented Celeste for deserting them nine years earlier and making her grow up too fast, the sisters eventually grew closer and it was Lisa who pressured Celeste to admit that she still carried a torch for Dr. Scott Clark.

Lisa first encountered Mason Capwell at the clinic, complaining about where he had parked his Mercedes. A few days later, she saw him again at his new law firm, Capwell & Capwell, where she dropped off her resumé. Mason was drunk and hired her as his secretary. Although he didn't remember this the following day, Lisa seemed capable enough and the two grew closer while Mason's fiancée, Julia Wainwright, was out of town. Lisa soon became aware of Mason's drinking problem and confronted him, believing he was running away from his problems. That same night, Mason was arrested for drunk driving. Lisa found herself covering for him many times afterwards, especially after Julia came back. One time, Julia found a bottle of alcohol at the office and Lisa reluctantly lied to her in order to protect Mason.

Alcoholics Anonymous
Although T.J. Daniels tried to hit on Lisa shortly after she came to town, she was clearly not interested. Celeste arranged for Lisa to go out with Michael Donnelly, but the date ended when an inebriated Mason called Lisa for help. Lisa, with Michael's help, dragged Mason to the high school, where an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting was taking place. Lisa stood in front of the group and talked about her own drinking problem, revealing she had been sober for three years now. Mason was impressed by Lisa's story and surprised that she hadn't told him before. Although he attended a second AA meeting, he got cold feet and was certain he could handle things himself. Lisa didn't believe this and predicted that he would hit bottom, which he did by drinking during his own engagement party. Lisa was tough on Mason, who eventually showed up at the high school for another AA meeting. He thanked her with flowers the next day, but gave them to Julia instead when she walked in at that very moment.

Although Lisa was only helping Mason, Julia began to feel threatened by Lisa's beauty. When Mason and Lisa went to the Clearsprings rehab clinic together, Julia found out about their trip and feared they were having an affair. She followed the two and finally learned the truth, causing Mason and Julia to grow closer. Lisa, however, started to fall apart in the middle of May. She almost drank again at a hotel room, where she had been pushed to the bottle years earlier after getting dumped by a married man. She called Mason, and he and Julia came to her aid. By then, they considered Lisa a friend and she attended their June wedding. Mason tried to play matchmaker by arranging for Frazier, a lawyer, to be Lisa's date, but nothing came of it. Around this time, Lisa confessed to Celeste that she was an alcoholic. Celeste, in turn, told her sister about her past as a prostitute.

Spying
When Mason and Julia got back from their honeymoon, they learned that someone was passing along financial documents and a possible takeover attempt of Capwell Enterprises was feared. Mason decided to go to Tokyo to get more facts, but the spy turned out to be none other than Lisa! She made several secret phone calls, and her boss told her to make copies of files having to do with CE. Lisa broke into Mason's desk drawer and when he found it unlocked, he didn't suspect Lisa for one minute and instructed her to beef up security. Also ironic was the fact that Julia gave her a bonus, which a guilt-ridden Lisa didn't want to accept. When Julia caught Lisa faxing secret documents and calling her boss, she managed to cover both times.

Soon after Lisa came to town,
she was hired by Mason.

Lisa's boss was Robert Barr, a manipulative businessman who was determined to take over Capwell Enterprises. Upon Robert's arrival in town, Lisa was instantly tempted to drink. Although he complimented her on her work, Robert now wanted her to sleep with Mason for information and get him to start drinking again. Following Barr's instructions, Lisa planted a bottle of alcohol in Mason's office. When Mason found it, he didn't fall off the wagon and instead asked Lisa if she was drinking again, offering his help. That same night, psychic Sandra Mills spotted Lisa leaving Robert's hotel room. It looked like Sandra was going to tell Mason and Julia, but she changed her mind when Mason snubbed her.

For quite a while, Lisa seemed to be willing to do anything for Robert. The two shared a romantic past, even though he had been married at the time, and all that mattered to Lisa was that he was here now. But when Robert took an interest in Gina Timmons, a jealous Lisa got fed up and told him how he had pushed her to the bottle by standing her up that time in the hotel room. Nevertheless, Robert urged a reluctant Lisa to stick with him.

Departure
Mason finally learned the truth about Lisa when he saw his "faithful" secretary going through his files. He checked the phone records and discovered that she had been calling Robert Barr. He then used her to leak false information about a potential investor. When that plan backfired, Mason confronted Lisa and fired her, demanding to know why she had sold him out to Barr. She confessed that Robert was the married man who had dumped her and when Mason wanted to know how he could stop him, Lisa said Mason would have to leave the country for a while. After that, it was mentioned that Lisa had left town as well.

Aside from a goodbye letter to Emily, Lisa wasn't heard from for months. After Emily married Greg Hughes, he surprised her around Christmas time with a phone call from Lisa. When Mason fell off the wagon in early 1990, his family staged an intervention and Emily mentioned that Lisa had cried upon hearing the news about him.
