Brief Character History
When Santa Barbara debuted, Santana Andrade began searching for her son, who was fathered by Channing Capwell Jr. and given up at birth at the insistence of Channing's father, C.C. Capwell. While C.C. had handled the adoption himself, he refused to tell Santana where the child was. A short time later, Brandon arrived in town with his mother, Gina Demott. He was five years old at the time and his father, Stockman Demott, had recently died. When Santana met Brandon, she instantly felt a special connection with the boy. It didn't take her long to realize that Brandon was her long-lost son.

When C.C. arranged for Gina and Brandon to leave town in a hurry, Santana learned that the two were in Nice, France. She followed them and then befriended Gina so she could spend time with Brandon. Once they were all back in the United States, Santana planned to kidnap Brandon. She couldn't go through with it. Just then, Santa Barbara was hit by an earthquake. Brandon almost died, but he was saved by C.C.'s oldest son, Mason. Brandon was grateful to Mason and they bonded.

Wanting to stay close to his grandson, C.C. moved Gina and Brandon into his mansion. He then married Gina and became Brandon's adoptive father. From then on Brandon referred to C.C. as his father. Soon after the wedding, tragedy almost struck when Brandon found and swallowed the pills Gina was addicted to. In a drugged state, he crawled onto the Capwell roof. Before anything bad happened, however, he was found by Santana. Following this incident, Gina was sent to rehab, but she escaped and briefly kidnapped Brandon.

C.C. forced Gina, now a villainess, to unnul their marriage and give up Brandon. He then awarded Santana custody of the boy, after she married Cruz Castillo and was able to provide a stable home. Determined to prove that Santana was an unfit mother, Gina started drugging her rival. Once Santana's marriage ended, Brandon's custody reverted back to C.C. Meanwhile, Brandon still believed that Gina was his mother and missed being with her permanently. He seemed immune to the fact that Gina had numerous suitors, including Mason, Keith Timmons, Dr. Alex Nikolas, Bunny Tagliatti and Ethan Asher.

In 1988, Gina blackmailed C.C.'s wife, Sophia, into giving her custody of Brandon. Brandon was happy to live with Gina again, and he idolized her on-and-off lover, Keith Timmons. He was thrilled when Gina and Keith got married. He also started calling Keith "Dad," with C.C.'s blessing. Shortly after the wedding, Brandon and Gina were devastated when Keith walked out on them.

Later that year, Brandon got knocked out during a struggle with a bum, Jack, who was at the time suspected of being the "video rapist." As a result, Brandon went into a coma. During this time, he had a dream about people he knew taking part in the Christmas Nativity. Finally, using a magical crystal, Cruz and Eden wished for Brandon to recover, and he did. It was a miracle.

In 1989, Brandon started dating a girl named Anisa. Then, during another battle between C.C. and Gina over his custody, Brandon accidentally learned that Gina wasn't his natural mother. He was shocked and felt betrayed by her. Eventually, he reconciled with Gina, whom he still considered his mother, and chose to stay with her. Later, Santana escaped from the mental hospital she'd been in and briefly kidnapped Brandon.

In 1990, Brandon got a job working for film director Stephen Slade. A few months later, Brandon and Gina started looking for Keith and found him in Disney World. On his way to the park, Brandon befriended a young woman named Melanie.

In 1991, Gina dumped Keith and sent Brandon off to boarding school. Santana was released from the mental hospital and reunited with Brandon, developing a bond with him again. In 1992, Brandon was last seen when he attended C.C.'s birthday at Cruz's beach house.
