A short time later, Amy learned that she was pregnant with Jeff's child. She and Brick went to San Francisco to tell Jeff the news, but he denied being the baby's father. He even claimed to be sterile. Hurt, Amy decided to have her baby and raise it by herself. Brick backed her decision.

Amy accepted a job to work for lawyer Jack Lee (a.k.a. his lookalike cousin, Jerry Cooper). She also got a new baby doctor, Dr. Renfro. The plot thickened when Brick found Jeff murdered and learned that he had indeed been sterile. Fearing that Amy was in danger, Brick took her away from Santa Barbara. During this time, Amy gave birth to a baby boy, Johnny, whom she named after her late father.

Dr. Renfro caused Amy much pain when he insisted that the baby had died shortly after birth. Brick didn't buy this story and became suspicious of both Renfro and the fake Jack Lee. Unfortunately, Dr. Renfro was shot and killed before he could reveal where Amy's baby was. Determined to find the infant, Brick and Amy followed the fake Jack Lee to the island of New Stailand with the help of Julia Wainwright.

Ultimately, Brick and Amy found Johnny, who was apparently the heir to the throne of New Stailand. Soon, Amy learned why. She had mistakenly been impregnated with sperm from the King's deceased son, Adrian!

Much to Brick's chargin, Amy remained in New Stailand with Johnny. Back in Santa Barbara, Brick had an auto accident and became temporarily paralyzed. When Amy caught wind of this, she rushed back to Santa Barbara and stayed there. The two got married once Brick recovered.

Amy started working as a waitress at a restaurant called Buzz's Place. She and Brick were happy, but then tragedy struck. While at Buzz's, Amy was killed in a fire unwittingly caused by Hayley Benson. Her death devastated Brick. As a tribute to his life wife, he bought Buzz's and renamed it Johnny's Place.
