Time:
December 1989
Setting: Outside
the Orient
Express
Characters: Cruz
and Eden
Premise: In an It's
A Wonderful Life
take-off, Cruz
was shown what
life would be
like without him.
He met up with
Eden at the
Orient Express
and danced with
her. She was
sure she had
seen him before
and rushed
outside, upset,
and he followed
her.
Cruz:
Are you all
right?
Eden:
No. Why is
it snowing out
here?
Cruz:
Because it's
a special night.
Eden:
Who are you?
Cruz:
Who do you
think I am?
Eden:
I don't know.
Someone in a
dream.
Cruz:
Tell me the
dream.
Eden:
A dream's a
dream. Life
isn't so
perfect.
Cruz:
Life is what
you make it.
Eden:
I haven't
made too much of
mine.
Cruz:
Why not?
Eden:
You don't
have to feel
sorry for me.
Cruz:
(Smiles) I
don't.
Eden:
I just
realized very
early on that
your fantasies
just don't come
true, and that
perfect guy
isn't going to
walk into your
life and make
your life
wonderful. So
forget about
love and just have a
little fun.
Cruz:
Are you
having fun?
Eden:
I can tell
you take life
too seriously.
Cruz:
Is that such
a bad thing?
Eden:
I used to
think so.
Cruz:
Tell me why
you don't
believe in love.
Eden:
I believe in
it for some
people.
Cruz:
Like who?
Eden:
I don't know.
You.
Cruz:
Really, so
you think maybe
there's somebody
out there for
me?
Eden:
Yeah, I
think somebody
is probably out
there waiting to
love you with
her whole heart.
(Starts to
cry.)
Cruz:
Why are you
crying?
Eden:
I don't know.
Cruz:
Oh my God. I'd rather die
than hurt you,
you know that?
Eden:
(Confused)
What?
Cruz:
I'd rather
die. I think I
can change it
though. I think
I can make it
okay. If I can
only find my way
back.
Eden:
What are you
talking about?
Cruz:
You don't
know it, but you
and I, we love
each other. And
more than you
can imagine.
Eden:
How can that
be?
Cruz:
How can it
not be? (Kisses
her tenderly.)
Eden:
(Pulls
away from him) God.
This is a dream.
Nothing real
ever felt like
that. (Runs
off.)
